Hands-free web dictation

A privacy-first dictation extension for users with RSI, motor impairments, or temporary injury.

Can VoiceMyThoughts be used as an accessibility tool?

Yes. By replacing keyboard input with speech, VoiceMyThoughts gives hands-free access to text fields across the entire web — useful for users managing RSI, carpal tunnel, motor impairments, or recovering from a temporary injury. The mic icon is keyboard-focusable and works the same way in every site, which keeps the workflow predictable.

Why a browser-based dictation tool?

Operating-system dictation works inside the OS but often falls short inside web apps with custom inputs. VoiceMyThoughts runs as a Chrome extension and supports the three input shapes that cover almost every web text field: standard inputs, textareas, and contenteditable rich-text editors. Once it is installed, every website behaves consistently.

Hands-free workflow

  1. Tab to a text field. The mic icon appears next to it on focus.
  2. Tab once more to land on the mic button itself.
  3. Press Enter to start dictation.
  4. Speak. Your text is inserted into the field with auto-capitalization and punctuation.
  5. Press Enter again to stop the session, or wait for the per-session timer.

Premium for sustained use

For users who rely on dictation for most input, the Free plan's 10-second session limit will feel constraining quickly. The Premium plan ($5.95/month) removes that limit. We treat this case seriously — if cost is a barrier for an accessibility need, please contact us.

Privacy

Audio is processed in your browser using the on-device Web Speech API. The extension does not record, store, or transmit audio. The transcribed text is inserted only into the focused field. We do not use voice data for any purpose, ever.
