How does VoiceMyThoughts help with AI assistants?
Open any AI chat assistant in your browser and click into the prompt box. VoiceMyThoughts shows a microphone icon next to it; click it and dictate your full request. Because speaking is faster than typing, you can comfortably write longer, more specific prompts — which usually produces better AI outputs.
Why longer prompts give better answers
Most people type short, ambiguous prompts because typing is the bottleneck. Speaking removes that bottleneck. You can describe the task, the audience, the format, the constraints, and the style without thinking about typing speed. The result: fewer back-and-forth turns and better first answers.
A simple template you can dictate
Try this 4-part template the next time you talk to an AI assistant:
- Role. "Act as a senior product manager."
- Task. "Review the following onboarding flow and tell me what's broken."
- Context. "The product is a B2B Chrome extension. Users are non-technical."
- Format. "Output a numbered list of issues, each with a one-sentence fix."
Dictating that template takes maybe 15 seconds. Typing it takes 60–90 seconds. Over a day of AI use, that's hours saved.
Does it work in any AI chat box?
Yes — any AI chat box that uses a standard text input or rich-text editor. The extension's content script detects focusable text areas and inserts the mic icon next to them automatically. If you find an AI tool where the icon doesn't appear, let us know.
Privacy: where does the audio go?
Your audio is processed in your browser using the on-device Web Speech API. Only the resulting text is inserted into the AI chat box. The extension does not record, store, or transmit audio to any server, and the AI provider receives the same text it would have received if you had typed.
Premium for long prompts
The Free plan supports 10-second recording sessions, which covers short prompts well. For longer prompts (research questions, code requests, multi-paragraph briefs), upgrade to Premium for $5.95/month and dictate without per-session limits.
